  Food Sourcing & Distribution
Food Bank For New York City was founded in 1983 with the goal to get large quantities of food to local organizations serving the poor throughout the five boroughs. During our first year, the Food Bank distributed 500,000 pounds of food to 95 food assistance programs. Today, as the city's major supplier of food to a network more than 1,000 programs, the Food Bank procures, store and distributes millions of pounds of food every year.
