Chief Financial Officer
This position is responsible for complete fiscal oversight and financial administration of the Food Bank, which involves overseeing financial reporting, government contract management, general accounting and inventory control. The Chief Financial Officer focuses on strategic goals and is part of the Executive Management team, which helps develop the organizations’ short and long-term strategic and operational objectives.  This position is responsible for the year-end financial audits, government audits and tax returns, inventory and reconciliation.

Principal duties will be to oversee all day-to-day accounting and finance functions, including inventory control activities, accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, payroll, insurance, banking and investments, vendor relations, materials management, grants management, and government vouchers; to develop and monitor organizational annual operating and cash flow budgets as well as long-range, capital  and other special budgets as required; to conduct research, cost analysis, and evaluation for contracts, business plans, and feasibility studies; to assist other departments regarding financial and other data as needed; to monitor organization’s operating revenues, investments, expenses and cash flow; and to prepare accurate and timely financial reports for submission to the CEO and Board of Directors.  The Chief Financial Officer manages the relationship with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of annual fiscal audits, tax reports and other financial information; negotiates monitors and maintains government contracts and other fiscally binding contracts or agreements; and adheres to standard accounting principles and practices.

The successful candidate will possess a an advanced degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred); have at least seven to ten years of experience in finance and/or accounting with a minimum of three years CFO experience dealing with budgets of over 15 million, and at least three years financial experience with a non-profit organization or government agency, preferably one which receives grants from federal, state and city government.  He/she will have expertise in accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, audits and government contracts.  The Chief Financial Officer must be proactive and possess significant supervisory experience and excellent team-building skills.  He/she will be proficient with computerized accounting programs and MS Office.

Research Director 
The primary purpose of this position is to further the research capacity of the Food Bank in order to support and enhance the programmatic and policy work of the organization. The Research Director is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of all aspects of primary and secondary research efforts relating to areas of interest to the Food Bank, including access to affordable, nutritious food in New York City communities; support and resources available to emergency food programs; trends in access to food assistance and income support programs; and education, including nutrition and workforce development. The Research Director will work closely with Government Relations & Public Education staff to analyze policy and produce publications to engage the larger hunger and poverty communities, as well as legislators and government offices to promote solutions to food poverty.

The primary duties are to develop research methodologies, data collection tools and procedures to support and enhance the programmatic and policy work of the Food Bank; serve as an organizational expert on research protocols and data analysis; oversee all aspects of primary research projects including survey distribution, fieldwork, data collection and entry, analysis, report writing and publication, the maintenance and further development of research files, including a reference library, census information, survey data, updated program statistics and geopolitical data. This Director will collaborate with government relations staff to research, analyze and produce recommendations on relevant policy topics and initiatives; work with outside consultants/advisors, including facilitating research advisory committee meetings and communicate and present research / information on food poverty to various audiences. He/she will work with multiple departments to ensure accurate and consistent reporting/representation of research data and information on food poverty; be responsible for staff training and supervision and perform other duties as required.

The qualified candidate will possess MA, MS with a minimum of 5 years work experience in quantitative and qualitative primary research, preferably in the area of poverty; demonstrated experience developing research methodologies, tools and conducting analysis. Proficiency with all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access) is required. The ideal will be a flexible, organized, deadline-focused reliable team player with a collegial and professional manner and the ability to handle pressure well. Excellent oral and written communication skills; experience in public speaking; experience with SPSS or similar data analysis software required; familiarity with ArcGIS;  interest and familiarity with food poverty and nutrition policy; fluency in Spanish and/or other languages and PhD are a plus.

Program Manager
The primary purpose of the position is to play a key role in the implementation of nutrition best practices at the Community Kitchen of West Harlem and across the Food Bank’s network of member organizations by helping to create healthy menus, conducting nutrition education classes, and developing outreach materials. The Program Manager supports the Food Bank’s nutrition initiatives across the agency and throughout its member organizations.

Principle duties are to recruit participants and run semi-weekly nutrition education classes utilizing food in the Community Kitchen’s Food Pantry and other sites, oversee and manage the procurement and transport of class equipment, food, and supplies for nutrition education classes as well as develop the outreach materials. He/she will work closely with staff to create weekly menus, recruit, train, and manage volunteers and interns for nutrition and outreach activities; develop volunteer appreciation initiatives and streamline recruitment, training, and management procedures for nutrition education volunteers. This Manager will also complete regular reports for funders and the Food Bank For NYC and perform other duties as needed.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., nutrition, public health, culinary, food safety, education, human development) plus three to five years management experience in the field of Nutrition; Program management and Program development; preferably in a non-profit environment in a diverse environment. He/she must be able to work autonomously on projects or within a team dynamic, conduct trainings and make group presentations as well as  work a flexible schedule. Excellent organizational and collaborative skills; written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Applications including PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel and Access; bilingual English/Spanish and capability to lift up to 40 lbs to include boxes, equipment or supplies are required. Demonstrated knowledge of cooking and food budgeting, RD/CDN preferred.

Training Manager  
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate and participate in effective and engaging trainings for the Food Bank’s nutrition education program. Working with the Sr. Manager of Education and program staff, the Training Manager will implement trainings for a variety of audiences.

Principal duties are to plan and coordinate trainings for education programs, including securing event space, equipment and materials, planning layout and flow of activities and assist with registration process; work with program and curriculum development staff to implement trainings for diverse audiences including educators, youth and internal staff, including providing event oversight and leading workshops or training activities as needed and coordinate and maintain relationships with external partners and consultants. He/she will provide input as needed into development of training curricula; work with evaluation staff to develop outcome evaluation tools to monitor the effectiveness of trainings and make adjustments as needed. This manager will serve as an organizational representative at trainings, external meetings and forums as well as work with internal staff and outside consultants to design, layout and publish training materials. He/she will perform additional duties as assigned.

The qualified candidate will have three to five years of direct experience with training and education, preferably in the area of poverty and background in training diverse age groups and learning styles, in both classroom and community settings preferred. A bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, education or related field, excellent oral and written communication skills, experience with training/event coordination and public speaking as well as proficiency in all MS office applications  are required. He/she will have demonstrated project management experience with the flexibility to work independently as well as collaboratively; detail oriented and strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and assignments with a high degree of professionalism. A Master’s degree, interest and familiarity with food poverty and nutrition policy and fluency in Spanish and/or other languages are a plus.

CookShop After-School Manager
The primary purpose of this position is to lead the daily operation of a large after-school-based nutrition education program (a CookShop® component), including recruitment, training, and technical support. 

The principal duties are to manage the maintenance and expansion of an after- school nutrition education program, including but not limited to recruitment of new sites, directors, teachers, interns/volunteers, training, and coordination of program supply orders; oversee and facilitate all training and continuing education of classroom teachers, volunteers, and school staff and coordinate technical support and field supervision of the program and train staff in operations procedures and training facilitation. He/she will develop and maintain strong working relationships with after-school staff, after-school administration and collaborative partners; monitor program compliance to ensure that the program meets annual goals and assist with submission of grant reports and collaborate with volunteer department in training and assigning volunteers to participating organizations. This manager will contribute to the quarterly newsletter for teachers, workshop leaders, volunteers and partner organizations; assist with the design/writing of implementation tools and guides for the program; collaborate in the revision of curriculum materials and implementation of evaluation activities. He/she will perform additional duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in health, culinary or nutrition education or similar field; two years experience in project coordination, nutrition and/or culinary education, public health or health education. Proficiency in all MS office applications; excellent administrative, organizational and project coordination skills, attention to detail and experience with public speaking and training facilitation required. Interest and familiarity with food poverty and nutrition policy and fluency in Spanish and/or other languages are a plus.

Public Education Associate 
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the development of public education materials relating to issues of interest to the Food Bank, particularly in the area of nutrition education.  The Public Education Associate will draft print materials, presentations and online content that clearly and engagingly relates the issues and programs that comprise the Food Bank’s work, and will work closely with communications and program staff to ensure accuracy, consistency and uniformity in messaging and appearance. 

Principal duties are to work with Public Education, Nutrition and Health Education, and Communications staff to design, lay out and publish public education and training materials, including newsletters, handouts, etc. He/she will maintain and update relevant online content; assist with testing of presentations and trainings for educators, program leaders and program participants. This associate will perform additional duties as assigned.

The success full candidate will possess a degree in nutrition, public health, public policy or related field; the ability and enthusiasm for working and communicating with diverse populations; excellent administrative, organizational, oral and written communication skills; keen attention to detail and proficiency in all MS office applications (including PowerPoint). Experience with publishing software. Experience with public speaking and/or conducting trainings is preferred. Interest and familiarity with nutrition, cooking, food systems and agriculture, fluency in verbal and written Spanish are a plus.

Program Support Associate
The primary purpose of this job is to provide support to ensure efficient procurement, distribution and tracking of nutrition education materials and services, serve as a liaison to schools and community based organizations and handle preparation of financial documentation. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

Principle responsibilities include coordinating general administrative needs, file and database management; placing orders for program materials and supplies, coordinating distribution to program sites and preparing invoices, reimbursements and check requests for approval and processing. He/she will research potential vendors, participate in the solicitation of bids for all program services and materials, including but not limited to cooking equipment, printed curriculum materials, catering and food ingredients. The Associate will assisting with the planning and coordination of all trainings, seminars and other events; provide customer support for all programs; supervise any assigned staff; and perform additional duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) with two years experience in business administration or related field; excellent communication and customer services skills, with the ability to interact with diverse constituencies and maintain the highest level of professionalism. He/she must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members and departments and be proficient in all MS office applications. An interest in and familiarity with food poverty and nutrition policy and fluency in Spanish and/or other languages are a plus.

Education Associate 
Primary purpose of this position is to assist with the development / enhancement of nutrition education programs and training curricula. The Education Associate will be responsible for drafting curricula materials and assisting in the editing, design, layout and printing process.

Principal duties and responsibilities are to assist with the creation of program and training curricula, including drafting materials, revising and publishing; research best practice models to ensure curricula is culturally and developmentally appropriate and is based on proven theory and current educational pedagogy. He/she will assist with curriculum trainings and workshops for educators and program leaders; work with evaluation staff to develop curriculum-based process and outcome evaluation tools to monitor the effectiveness of nutrition education programs. This associate will assist with direct observations of educational programs and participate in focus groups to guide enhancements and adjustments to program and training curriculum as well as work with internal staff and outside consultants to design, layout and publish curricula. He/she will perform additional duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will possess two years experience with curriculum development, teaching and/or conducting trainings, preferably in the area of poverty; excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency in all MS office applications. Experience providing trainings and public speaking preferred and a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Strong editing skills and experience in publishing; interest and familiarity with food poverty and nutrition policy; experience with InDesign or other publishing software and fluency in Spanish and/or other languages are a plus.

 CookShop After-School Associate 
The primary purpose of this position is to support the maintenance and daily operation of an after-school based nutrition education program.  Serve as a liaison to schools, provide technical support and coordinate trainings. 

Principal duties and responsibilities are to collaborate with community based organizations, teachers and school administration to support the implementation of a comprehensive nutrition education program – citywide travel required; assist with site recruitment, training, supervision, ensure training curriculum is implemented in accordance with approved standards and provide technical assistance and process all program documentation including filing and organization of program materials. This associate will conduct and assist in planning and implementing training and continuing education events and schedule, plan and coordinate meetings and activities to assist with evaluation measures. He/she will contribute to a quarterly newsletter for teachers, workshop leaders and volunteers; assist with recipe development and testing and perform any additional duties as required.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, customer service and training experience. He/she will have experience working in schools, after-school programs or other youth programs  and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members and departments. Proficiency in all MS office applications required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Interest in and familiarity with food poverty and nutrition policy  as well as fluency in Spanish and/or other languages is a plus.

Site Monitor - Full Time 
The primary purpose of this position is to provide monitoring of activities and provide technical assistance in the Food Bank For New York City’s CookShop nutrition education program. Working within a fast-paced environment, this position requires an organized individual with interest in food, nutrition and poverty issues, the ability to work and communicate with a variety of audiences and the ability to travel throughout the five boroughs on a regular basis.

Principal duties are to conduct site-monitoring activities in New York City schools and community based organizations. Ensure appropriate and accurate documentation and processing of all site-monitoring activities, and participate in other evaluation activities as needed. Observe and monitor lessons and workshops to ensure effective implementation of program. Provide technical support and assistance to program implementers as needed. Review reporting requirements and documentation with program implementers as necessary to ensure reports are submitted on a timely basis. Provide updates to Food Bank staff to continuously enhance quality and integration of school and community-based programming. Assist with administrative duties including data entry, filing and meeting coordination as needed. Assist in coordination and facilitation of aspects of training, technical support and program maintenance for the organizations nutrition education programs as needed. Additional duties as assigned.

The qualified candidate will have two years experience in nutrition, public health, public elementary school education, health education, culinary arts, food systems, or other related field. preferred. Bachelor’s Degree; demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively excellent communication and customer services skills, with the ability to interact with diverse audiences and maintain the highest level of professionalism; proficiency in all MS office applications as well as strong and organizational skills are required. Experience with the public school system and/or working in the area of poverty; interest in and familiarity with food poverty and nutrition policy a plus and fluency in Spanish and/or other languages are a plus.

 ADMINISTRATION

ACCOUNTING & FINANCE  

Accounting Associate
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Grants Management in ensuring the compliance of all government contracts and restricted private grants during the relative grant period. 

Principal duties are to enter grant allocations programs into accounting system as instructed by Director of Grants Management; collect program invoices for government programs, ensure that they have been properly completed and prepare monthly government vouchers and invoices required to receive payment on restricted grants. The Accounting Associate will monitor the usage of monetary grants given to Food Bank programs and conduct analysis of usage and alert the Director of Grants Management of any irregularities. He/she will work with the Accounts Payable Department to obtain all supporting documents for expenses covered by grants and contracts.

The successful candidate will possess an Associates Degree, with some accounting courses (Bachelors Degree preferred). He/she will have excellent organizational skills, be detail oriented, be able to approach work systematically as well as work independently and as a part of team in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The Accounting Associate must have a proven aptitude for numbers and be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.  Experience with not-for-profit accounting systems is preferred.

COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING

 Business Partnerships Manager
The Primary purpose of this position is to work with the Director of Business Partnerships to manage relationships with the Food Bank’s existing corporate supporters and develop new corporate relationships and partnerships to generate financial support, sponsorships, food drives, volunteers and in-kind donations of goods and services. The Business Partnerships Manager works to create corporate funding and sponsorship opportunities that address the full range of the Food Bank’s programmatic and operational needs and manage city-wide campaigns.

Principle duties are to manage existing, and create new, corporate relationships for financial support, cause-related marketing, in-kind donations of goods and services, food drives and volunteers; assure on-going communication to corporate partners via Business Development E-Update, website, newsletter and opportunistic outreach (e.g., newspaper articles); and research and develop database of corporations having employee matching gifts programs and initiate programs to promote the Food Bank to employees. This manager will prepare tailored proposals and PowerPoint presentations; meet regularly with corporate prospects, corporate supporters, and other key links to the business community; ensure that proper acknowledgements and visibilities are extended to corporate supporters for sponsorship, donations and other contributions; and respond in a timely and thorough manner to specific requests from corporate supporters. He/she will develop guidelines for companies & organizations that are interested in using the Food Bank’s name or logo in a promotion; work collaboratively with other staff members to accomplish goals and objectives of the External Relations department. He/she will supervise Special Projects Assistant, assist with Special Events and perform all other duties as required.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of two to three years of professional development, marketing or public relations experience, hands-on experience cultivating corporate support as well as excellent computer skills including knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet and fundraising software. He/she must have familiarity with corporate giving programs, corporate foundations, and corporate outreach programs; the ability to prepare effective marketing proposals and to make convincing presentations and exceptional relationship building skills. A flair for thinking creatively outside of the box, particularly as applied to corporate funding opportunities, experience with prospect research and ability to set up a viable data bank and the ability to set priorities, manage production schedules and meet deadlines are required. B.A. or B.S. Degree, experience with or knowledge of social service/hunger issues are a plus.

INCOME SUPPORT 

Part Time Delivery Person (2 Positions)
The primary purpose of this position is to provide hot home-delivered meals from the Community Kitchen to the Community served.

Principal duties are to assist with the assembly of the daily dinner meal packages while ensuring proper food handling is maintained; provide safe expedient transport and delivery via foot of prepared dinner meals and pantry bags to community residents Monday thru Friday; maintain proper sanitation/cleanliness of thermal transport bags each day upon completion of the delivery route. The Delivery Person will do some heavy lifting and comply with all sanitation, health, cleaning and housekeeping procedures. He/she will cross-train for other positions within the Community Kitchen and perform other tasks may be assigned.

The qualified candidate will be a team player with good communication skills; possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (approximately). He/she will also perform the essential functions of an on-foot delivery person. Culinary training and/or experience and bilingual English/Spanish are strongly preferred.
