25 Years of the Food Bank

2008 marks the Food Bank For New York City's 25th Anniversary working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs. With the help of supporters like you, we have grown substantially since 1983 — when a handful of concerned New Yorkers founded the Food Bank with the profound and simple goal to provide large donations of food to communities serving the poor.

Today, the Food Bank has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides millions of pounds of food and supplies to a network of more than 1,000 food assistance programs as well as Direct Service, Education & Nutrition, Financial Empowerment and Disaster Relief programs, and Policy & Research work.
