Young Professionals
Food Bank For New York City's Young Professionals is a group of successful, socially conscious and motivated individuals, ages 21 through 39, who are committed to ending food poverty throughout the five boroughs. Our goal is to assist the Food Bank in its effort to end hunger through community action.
The Young Professionals supports the work of the Food Bank by raising funds and awareness through hosting social events, campaigns and volunteer opportunities geared toward younger New Yorkers. In 2008 the Young Professionals are working in support of the Food Bank's Community Kitchen. Located in Harlem, the Community Kitchen provides approximately 600,000 meals to hungry New York residents annually through a soup kitchen and food pantry.
What do the Young Professionals Do?
Young Professionals hosts approximately six fundraising events a year at exciting New York City venues. These events give participants the opportunity to socialize and make new friends while donating to a worthy cause and spreading awareness about hunger in New York City. Past events have included a Summer Happy Hour at LeRoyale and a Ride-the-Bull event at a Food Bank film festival hosted by the IFC Center. Young Professionals also organizes groups of volunteers to donate their time at the Food Bank's network of food assistance programs as well as its own Community Kitchen.
